Biogas for schools

Replace firewood with a system that keeps working.

School systems are engineered around pupil numbers, meals, kitchen load, feedstock supply and local operating conditions.

Fund a school

The school energy loop

1

Collect

Manure and suitable organic material are aggregated from the school or surrounding farms.

2

Produce

The digester converts feedstock into biogas for the school kitchen.

3

Displace

Biogas reduces dependence on firewood, charcoal or other purchased cooking fuels.

4

Return value

Digestate becomes an organic fertiliser resource for farms and school gardens.

A 300-pupil example

Indicative design basis

Current KyoGreen project materials use an example in which a 300-pupil school requires approximately 25,000m³ of biogas per year, with feedstock equivalent to roughly 56 cows.

This is an illustrative design basis, not a universal sizing rule. Actual school systems require a technical assessment.
